Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
