Football Recap: Broncos Edge Struggling Jets in Defensive Battle

In a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Denver Broncos clinched a 13-11 win over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz provided the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the ugly win.

Defensive Performance Seals Contest

Despite registering nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a safety in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards throughout the entire game.

The Denver quarterback, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in Lutz's short field goal with just over five minutes remaining.

Historic Struggles for Jets Offense

In spite of their dismal performance, the Jets maintained the ball with a chance to score a possible winning score. But Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 when coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it instead of sending out kicker Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.

The Jets quarterback struggled all game, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York ended up with negative ten net yards passing, the lowest in any contest since 1998.

"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach stated after the contest.
